I would rate it as good. I much prefer her brighter videos with high production values like Rude Boy and Umbrella though, when I saw photos of her in the field that's what I thought it'd be like.

Most of the song is just her repeating: "We fell in love in a hopeless place" with the second "hopeless" slightly longer. It's nowhere near a lot of her other songs. Okay this is starting to get annoying for me already as I'm listening to it.

And what "hopeless place" does she mean anyway? :eek:

Does anyone think that there will be uproar over this? It's basically her just screwing a guy and taking drugs - she's a junkie in it for Christ's sake! She has a lot of young fans - a step too far imo

I notice they seem to have cut out the part where the guy quickly turns Rihanna's face towards him in the car, at least for the daytime version. Maybe it was classified as a dangerous or violent move, which it could be despite it looking fairly innocuous. It's a shame because I thought that was one of the best bits, just don't try it on someone in real life without them person knowing about it. Looking at it again, I think they censored a lot of things!!! I think it's better that way, nobody needs to see so many filthy cigarettes etc.

Edit: I've seen it on Flava now and they had the face turn, but I think not on other channels as I was looking for it and could not see it.

Okay, I'm after viewing it a number of times now, and I am left with the disturbing impression that the video is about Rihanna and this guy being a "trip" and destroying themselves.

The images of them shoplifting, gambling and being in the bath take on a whole new sinister meaning when you put images of cigarettes and pills into the video. Rather than being about the ups and downs of love/life it seems to be about drugs. Rather than pupils dilating at light/love, more like drugs...

I have never objected to a music video in my life but I would to this one, never mind the location. I feel that Rihanna is in some ways legitimizing the use of these substances or this type of life, and we know that she wouldn't look like that if she really did have this lifestyle. Rihanna is shown on the ground in the end, but overall the video has a positive attitude about it, as if this lifestyle isn't something you should do everything you possibly could to get out of before it completely ruined your health/life. Sickening.

The video doesn't offend me, it's just really cringey, I think. She's trying to come across as an 'artist' and a 'rockstar', but it's just really contrived. The song is good though. I think that could be because of Calvin Harris' contribution though.

Loads of paremts of children who think of Rihanna as a role model were upset by this video. I think we should show them people the video for smack my bitch up and ask which would they rather their child watch :rolleyes:

It was the completely opposite for me at first, but somehow the video kinda grew on me as my cousin kept on watching it, and I am forced to watch it since she owns the computer.
