    Hi

One of the members linked me here because they said you could help me with making a pc at least I hope this is the place. I'm not looking for anything too fancy, I dont really play games on pc or the like.

The main requirments for the pc is speed mostly for editing and rendering videos is what I'd like it for. It would also need to be compatible with a black magic intensity pro capture card (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/models/). I suppose a semi decent graphics card would be a plus aswell

I really dont care about asthetics like the case and I have a monitor, keyboard, mouse and all that jazz already. The guy linked me to this site aswell which seems pretty decent so if anyone wants to help put together a build please use this site as a reference.

Sorry for being such a noob its my first time building

What's your budget? You don't play much games, what games to you play? Do you care about noise? Do you need a copy of Windows?

    1. About 700 to 800
    2. Most taxing game would probly be the sims 3 for my sister. Other than that minecraft
    3. Noise doesn't bother me
    4. I have windows 7 cd lying around somewhere

    Item|Price
    Total build cost: €671.54 + €30 shipping
Xigmatek Asgard, ATX, ohne Netzteil, schwarz|€32.63
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€40.96
    Samsung SpinPoint F3 1000GB, SATA II (HD103SJ)|€54.99
    Samsung SH-222AB bare schwarz SATA|€15.98
    Intel Core i7-2600K Box, LGA1155|€272.01
    2 x 8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€34.61
    ASRock Z68 Pro3 (B3), Sockel 1155, ATX|€93.83
    MSI R6770-MD1GD5, 1024MB, PCI-Express|€91.92

If you want to stretch it to the upper end of the budget I would either:
    -Get an SSD
-Get a 2TB drive for more storage if needed
    or
    -Get a better case

Is there a reason why I sould get a seperate psu rather than one that comes with the case?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

PSUs that come with cases are usually horrible. A 500W unit for example, might only be able to cough up 150W, after which it will explode, likely taking a component or two along with it. They're also usually very inefficient. The only use I had for one was buying a €10 "450W" unit to use for powering my watercooling pump in the case. I think 18W is within its limit. :P

ha i wouldnt trust my ~€400 WC setup to be powered by a €10 PSU. if the pump failed while gaming or something and went unnoticed

Oh, LOL, I should have been more clear. I use the POS PSU for testing my watercooling loop in the case. I have it powered from the machine's PSU otherwise. :P

Makes sense. Suppose its the same reason I dont want to buy a pre-build machine which is overproced for what it's worth

Exactly. These PSUs are pretty much the opposite though; they're actually not badly priced, they're just really over-specced.
