Ok then.
I created an account with youtube probably 3 years ago using a hotmail account and have been viewing youtube with no problems all this time.
However today I wanted to comment for the first time on a video. When I tried it told me to sign in. I tried to sign in with my username etc and I was told I have to now link it with an email address (which I don’t like doing but hey ho ). It was showing the old hotmail account and all I had to do was click and the job would be done ‘or’ I could click another button and link it to a different email account.
I chose to link to a different email account, one that I rarely use, Gmail in fact. It won’t let me do it and keep saying that username and password is incorrect etc. Obviously after dozens of attempts its not incorrect.
That’s the story or rather whats the story?

Youtube now requires you to have a Google account. It's a seperate account

Could you be more specific please as I thought I have all the accounts necessary as described above.

When the screen asks your for a username and password after you click to move your email, what details are you putting in?

new or old email?

Ah, I have it sorted.
As I was 'on Youtube' when I put in the new email account that I wanted to link to I was also entering my youtube password...it seems they wanted the password that I use with that email account.
As I, and probably many others are/were trying to sign in to their Youtube accounts you think that they could have made that a little clearer.
God knows what unwanted junk is going to pop up on that email account now. Debate for another time perhaps.
