replacing concrete fireback with cast iron?

    I'm considering replacing concrete fireback with cast iron, like this one:

    I've heard a good fireback can increase the efficiency by up to 50%. The cast iron is better at radiating heat than concrete and the horizontal fins increase the surface area, catching more of the fire. Has anyone done this, or do you think it's worthwhile, and if so how difficult would it be to remove the existing concrete on and replace it? the cast iron one costs around €80 here

    I went through 10kg of hard wood last night, and I didn't get the room above 17 degrees :(
