It's the latest tool for timewasting muppets out there to contact you when you have a car for sale.

so annoying, why can't they use a normal method of communication like a ordinary phone call to enquire about a car FFS!:rolleyes:

What other muppetry have you endured?

Thanks, you just made me realise I should delete it before I place my Ad in the coming days. The less hassle the better!

Use a different number for taking the calls?

Just delete your Viber while selling the car, if you don't want to be contacted that way.

Without Viber I generally cannot receive calls at all at my house so I dont see the problem... ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

It's free with Viber so yeah that what I'd use too. Doesn't make a difference imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭TheBunk1

I don't get what the problem is...you have Viber, they have Viber, it's a free method of making a phone call, why not use it?

Why are they "muppets" for using it? You have it, so I assume you use it

Maybe if the reception is crap (which it can be), that would be annoying.

you hit the nail on the head, the broadband or 3g or whatever near the yard is pox, its grand at home as the wifi is good there.

looks like i'm going to have to put this in my ads now, no viber calls, ediots, muppets etc

Maybe, but generally when you put in a line like "No calls, no texts, no emails, nothing before or after 6, no skype, viber, facebook", etc... you will only turn off potential buyers who think that so long as they're willing to buy the car, what TF does it matter how I contact the seller?
Why have different methods of communication open only to say "you can't use them"
But the biggest problem with that line is that it won't put off the muppets in any case.
So adding anything like that to an ad is self-defeating and counterproductive.
If I have a car ad up I usually say "call, text, email, skype, whatever, I don't care".
Or have different accounts you use only for business, under Skype it's zero problem just signing on under a different account, problem solved.
    No point cursing the rain.

Do you think you wouldn't get stupid calls if people used a normal phone?

Uninstall Viber or turn off 3G.
If you have it, they will use it.

Look, of course you are all right, no matter what anyone puts on an ad, they'll still call.
If you have viber, they'll use it.

I'm just having a giggle is all.........and things are slowwwwww today. Plenty of money out there, just no one spending it.

I don't know how you do it for a living! I hate it!!

"Haylo? You have car? What is wrong with car?"
    or
    *ring**ring* ME:Hello CALLER:Whats your lowest price?

The worst is the middle of the night texts offering you €5000 CASH less than asking (as if I was going to take anything other than!?!)

Don't get me started on the emails, the viewers never showing up etc.etc.

You're a more patient man than me, MidlandsM

Am I missing something here ?

Seems to me like the one with the problem here is you since you've advertised the thing using viber when you spend large amounts of time with crap data connection ? Have I got that right? I mean I'm assuming they aren't just guessing what your viber number/handle/whatever is.

So ....who is the muppet in this scenario ?

Your Viber is connected to your phone number. So once they add you to their phone the viber account shows up. This is a non issue really. Just go offline on Viber. Not hard really

Yeah, just close* the app when standing around the rubbish 3g connection. Some random stranger doesnt know or care about crap data coverage, no more logical than complaining about "muppets" are calling on your mobile when you are out in a field with no cell reception is it!?

    * Assuming you are using an iPhone:
I dont mean multitask out of it, I mean shutdown the app. Double press the Home button. Find the Viber icon on the bottom taskbar. Select and hold on the icon till the red " - " [minus sign] appears, press the minus sign to close. Done.

    Hi all,
This is a member of the Viber Dev Team.

I'd like to clarify: your Viber identifier is identical to your real phone number. To begin with, this was meant to be the point of our application, that it is intuitive to the user. There's no need for logging in, no username/password, etc.

Yes, essentially if someone knows your number they could call on on Viber, but as mentioned above they could also "harass" you on your regular cell number which you can't turn off unless you become unavailable, so it's practically the same.

Lastly, I'd like to thank you for a hilarious thread. As a company rep, this is probably the funniest thread I've come across over hundreds of other forum threads out there I'm subscribed to :)

yeah..they're serious muppets using a free service when it's available.
they should KNOW WELL you don't have good reception out there!

    lol

Thank you for this useless information. Thankfully your application is more usefull and intelligent than this smarmy post, and the attitude you exude in your posts

What a great company representative you are!:pac:

In fairness, you have not represented yourself very well here at all. You have actively cited that you have and use viber for other home uses, your number is connected to it so people will obviously choose the cheaper option as its presented to them. Yet this makes THEM muppets.

These people are supposed to know that the location you spend most of your day at has poor signal connection. I think you'll find your originally rant is very flawed to say the least. But I have a feeling you wont admit that.

So to put it in perspective

    - people are not muppets for choosing the free option for communication with you
    - people do not know you have a poor connection as that is your problem solely.
    - if you dont like it delete it, stop coming on here making nonsensical rants.

    Happy ?
