I've got a old laptop around 5 years old now and it has the dreaded blue screen of death. I don't have a recovery disc any idea where i'd get my hands on one?

Some one might have one lying around but you need to post the operating system and version.

    Hi James

Hope one of these is any help to you.

Some Toshiba models have the recovery partition installed already in them.
I'm not sure about the model you have i have a couple at home, but can't check as i'm miles away.

    In No particular order.

(Okay i am after seeing link 3 after i wrote 1 and 2, and i'm not deleting them now.

    Anyway.

    1
    Try this.
Turn on laptop while holding 0 down. (That's a zero, not an Oh ;))
Release it when the screen says "press F2 for setup" (Or F12)
It should ask do you want to start recovery setup.
For the next few steps, just choose the highlighted option or the default.

(I am doing most of this from memory, so i could be mistaken on a step. Read all steps carefully, and it should be obvious which to choose.)

The computer should reboot a few times. More then you would expect.

    2

Press F8 And choose "Repair My Computer"
Factory restore should be there somewhere after one of the options.

If you can still read the xp home sticker under your laptop (if it's not worn off), there are some tech guys around that can reload your operating system from as little as €30. Ring around a few local places and see what the charge for a reinstall including backup.
