Home-made Lamborghini Aventador

A hairdresser in China built a copy of a Lamborghini Aventador (link) when he couldn't afford the real thing. I've linked the webpage for photos but here's the text for phone users

"One of the nice things about living in the world's workshop must be labouring under the impression that there is literally nothing which can't be built on the cheap if you put your mind to it. So when hair salon owner Ha San decided the new Lamborghini Aventador was the car for him, he didn't let the fact that he was a little shy of the required 15 million Yuan put him off one bit. No, the plucky little chap set to work creating his own version of the V12 Italian supercar, based on a humble 1995 A31 Nissan Cefiro. Apparently Ha San worked for 12 days straight on his new pride and joy (presumably panel beating for 11 days) until his Nissan emerged as the beautiful steel butterfly before you. There's still a little bit of work to be done (although going on his current form, he's probably finished by now) but so far the 'Avenfiro' has only cost our hero 90 Yuan (about 13 US dollar or eight quid). Or half a haircut in London"

What struck me was that I like the look of the car as it is now - a testament to the hard work that went into it, what do you boardsies think? A car worth enjoying or a useless ripoff?

I'd say it's hardly worth enjoying... Might need some finishing touches:rolleyes:

Unless it's biscuit tins he used, that must weigh an unbelievable amount!

I far prefer the 406 Coupe Ferrari knockoffs. Much better lines. Tempted to buy one actually*

Kit cars are just that, kits for sad people.
This guy build that, he belted pieces of steel 'till they looked like the Lambo.
    Respect.

Meh.... different strokes for different folks.

I built a Dax Rush (Lotus 7 lookalike) a few years ago, brilliant car and a ball to drive. it also gives you an excellent insight as to how cars work. Sad it certainly isn't.

$14 to do the basics of it , fair play to him , might not be our thing here but sure remember that peugot ad years ago with the indian lads in it, atleast this lad had higher aspirations than a 206

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost you to kit out, build and insure?

Come on now, you know I didn't mean this kind of thing.
I was talking about turning MR2's into F355 look alikes.

Building a track car from the ground up is something I'd love to do.

Late 90's the car cost about £5500stg. I had some donor parts such as the engine, some tools I had to rent short term and there were various sundries which added up. If I was doing it again I would get it done cheaper. I picked the Dax because though more expensive than others it had a better reputation.

Not sure what the insurance was, I had a car, bike and a couple of classics on the one policy but its not too expensive if its a second car. Kit cars are rare enough in Ireland and I've no idea what the situation with VRT, VAT, insurance etc here is. The Irish Kit Car Club www.ikcc.ie will be able to help you if you're interested but I'm not involved with them.

somebody brought a Raw kit car to one of cars and coffee meets in Athlone. It's also a super 7, but with Toyota engine. Sweet piece of machinery.
