    No, not Ordinary Wizarding Levels...

I'm just insanely curious about the "owl room" in the back of the lecky (Arts block entrance).

What's with all the owls? It looks like it has gotten out of hand.

Are you meant to bring an owl? Payment for overdue books? Reserved seats?

    Desperate for the truth...

    Many Thanks
    StrawberryJazz :)

Apparently the lady who works there collects owls.

It's the Owlery. The home of TCD's owl post service.

the librarian for the lecky works in there, her name is Ruth and she's obsessed with owls, (clearly)

the interesting this is that one of the owls near her desk is hollow and has chocolate in it

    true story

I've always wondered about that. That room creeps me the fúck out.

The first time I saw this the theme music from Psycho popped into my head.

Since then I've decided that this Ruth lady is my hero.

    :)

    I just don't understand it.
Why does this Ruth woman get an entire room of owls to herself?!

It's exceptionally odd and the first thing you notice in the library...

...have official questions been asked? Can the Phist have her give a talk in the GMB some night?:)

She spoke about it at a JF intro to the library, apparently what started as a small collection grew as students and others she had helped in the course of her duties gave her owl related gifts as thanks. Nice to find such a personal touch in such a large institution, not enough of that around methinks.

I hate when people come out and ruin a perfectly good mystery with the boring truth. I like to imagine a crazy lady who collects owls and yells at people sleeps in the library and occassionally roams around to smear faeces on the books.
