RTPI - down today?

I was on Parnell Street this morning and noticed that none of the RTPIs were powered on.

Checking the website a few minutes ago, no information was showing on stops I checked at random. You're given "no departures found" No information concerning this is posted on RTPI website.

Was there a scheduled downtime advertised somewhere?

Didn't notice any poles being 'live' this morning coming in. The DB-website and the RTPI-Android-App only showed some buses (e.g. didn't display any 4 or 7 buses on the 4/7/8/45-corridor inbound). Seems to be working fine for the stops I queried a short while ago.

That would be a new concept ...

From the Dublin Bus facebook page (www.facebook.com/dublinbusnews):
Real Time Passenger Information System is down at the moment. We are working on getting this corrected as soon as possible. Apologies for any inconvience caused. We will let you all know when the system is running again.

    followed subsequently by:
Real Time Passenger Information System is now back up and running. Apologies for any inconvience that it caused.

There was a post on Twitter this morning advising passengers that the service was down, it is back working again now.

    Website still not displaying data.

I like the idea of RTPI (sorry - Dublin Bus), using Social Networking sites of the issue, but not updating their own site with the news.

    Clever chaps.

The tweet from DublinBusNews about the RTPI being down shows up as '1 hour ago' (making it about 9:05) with the tweet about the RTPI being back up and running as '56 mins ago'.

Certainly no info being available at 7 am in the morning.

They might not be able to update Twitter or Facebook before they get into work, but if the system is down it should display a default message (on the web and on the poles).

I tried a few stops just now and it's working fine?

Yep - back working now, thanks.

It still doesn't excuse the ineptitude. :)

A good idea - still a new system though (for Ireland anyway!) so hopefully the next software release could address this... Things evolve.
