Unlike all the tuning 'chips' on ebay etc for petrol engines, proper diesel tuning boxes are not a scam and can give very easy power gains and they do work.

The address on the tunning box is: www.tdi-tunning.co.uk
Seems like you can buy it directly from there.
There are some basic explanations of how it works but nothing substantial.
So no way of really knowing if its of good/poor design. But from the photo it looks like more than just a resistor...but im no electrical engeneer.

Nissan Doctor do you think that this particular one is bull?
The one you linked is +/- £375
But I suppose you'd get what you paid for.

They are real, however from the ad I would say they are just using a stock map for the remap of the cars. If you want to get one done get it done on a rolling road as it can be setup properly to your car.

At best all these will do is make the car burn a bit more fuel, giving it a little more power but making it more thirsty than it needs to be.

If it has a tune-able injection pump , or a re-mappable/chippable ecu then you can get far better results. these things are just a half arsed bodge job really. They often work, to an extent but not worth it

The last car I seen fitted with one of these actually gained power when it was removed.

There is no substitute for a custom map. These boxes are only a waste of your money.

Most of those real dear ones use a generic map and usually just trick the car into overfuelling your far better getting is mapped correctly at least with a custom map your can change it about for other mods youve done eg bigger turbo etc.

gettin a car remapped can be a bad thing aswell tho my mates gt tdi golf got remapped and since then hes had nothing but trouble in piston rings fried and all

Just spend 200+ euro to get it remapped, you will get a serious power gain, mostly in the torque department and can also be mapped for best mpg when driven easy :pac:

Then it hasn't been remapped properly or the engine was already in bad condition before the map.

I'm guessing the remap had nothing to do with that, if it did it must have been a remap from a playstation or something, VAG cars aren't all that reliable ;)
