Adding Oil to plaster/cement

As distinct from the Fairy Liquid on liveline at the moment, a girl in work told me ages ago that her builder admitted to mixing oil (heating I think) into the plaster on the walls during the building of her extension.

The smell was awful, and it was for a childs room to make it worse.

Has anyone ever heard of this being done or was she hallucinating?
