Phone lost inside car!

Was driving home today, phone slipped out of my pocket and fell down the right hand side of the seat. Got home and couldn't find it, car seems to have swallowed it, when i call it i can hear it vibrating where my feet goes when i'm driving. I drive a BMW 320d and underneath the seat there are two rectangular pipes, think it could have rather unbelievably slipped up them! does this mean it's in the air conditioning? Any idea any mechanics in tallaght/dundrum that would not charge me a fortune for getting it out?
Any idea how much they would charge? I haven't a notion and would be afraid
    they would see me coming.
    Thanks!

I've heard of this happening before. I believe BMW have a deal with the garages to retrieve the phones and sell them on eBay ;)

How about a steep hill and a coat hanger. Woodies are selling bore cameras at the moment too. Could help you find it.

Worst thing is, it's an iphone that i had just gotten fixed after i let it fall, bloody nightmare. Me and the iphone are obviously not meant to be, it keeps trying to get away from me!

Did the steep hill thing but with a stick, good idea about the cameras, always wanted one of them anyway . Thanks!

Are you sure it's in there? Have you rung it to hear if it vibrates(assuming it's on silent)?

I'd check when it's bright in the morning to make absolutely sure.

Yeah i heard it vibrate, its definitely there! I checked when it was bright at about five o clock this evening, then got someone else to check later because i thought i was going a bit mad. Do you think it's in the the a/c?

Seen this complaint here before. BMW Air outlets seem to be the perfect size for iPhones. :/ Saw the camera in their Christmas catalogue  . 50 quid or so.

Not being smart but read the mans original plea for help why don't ya (?)

    - Op sounds like something that would happen me!

Maybe go to Easons or wherever and have a cheap look at the Haynes manual for your model????

    - Their exploded diagrams might lead the way maybe?

    Best of luck with it!!!

A coat hanger and a piece of double sided sticky tape should see you right ;)

Don't think i can get this out on my own, am going to ring around a few mechanics tomorrow and see if they laugh at me or charge me a fortune. Will let yous know the final result.

Be careful messing around under the seats. It is easy enough to disconnect the seat occupancy sensor causing the airbag light to stay on.

iPhones like cheese, try holding a choice piece of edam in the vicinity...

    I know I know... Bad Fishtits :D

Ring it at night time in the dark and watch for the light

Thought this was a resurrected thread for a sec. Remember reading the exact same thing happened to another lad on here before. (Post #4). Pretty nuts!

Fill the car with water and the iphone will float up to where you can reach it.

You know where the phone is, you don't need a mechanic to get it out.

Someone said it already.. Coathanger and some double sided sticky tape.. Will take you a few minutes of fishing around..

Make sure you loop around the end the coat hanger so it's a blunt n shape at the tip, then tape around that.

Thanks for all the suggestions, tried most of them but the DIY was too much for a clueless girl like me. Paid a mechanic 70euro to get it out, he took out the seat, ripped up the carpets and cut the vent. Success- phone is undamaged!

****ing hell! So you got the part replaced that he cut?

Right, I'm off to pitch a cover for those holes on Dragon's Den - surely if retrieval costs that much I could sell a preventative measure for about 30-40? :pac:

It happened to a friend of mine too. Those ramps you get for washing the car on nct and a stick or a hoover might do the trick
