Have a 112 litre tank and its about 1/3full. I have one slider turtle and am looking for a good filter. Reading online and finding it hard to pick the best one. Budget about €100. Any advice appreciated!! Its like a different language and dont really trust the reviews on the websites themselves!!

Get a good external filter. The JBL CristalProfi e700 should be within your budget. It'll do up to 160 litres. You can pretty much double or triple the recommended size for turtles.

The filters are designed for fish which are nowhere near as messy as turtles. You want room in the filter for extra mechanical filtration such as floss and carbon to handle the load.

Go in to your local aquatics specialist shop and they'll show you your options.

Defo a plus one for an external filter. They make a huge difference with turtles. Get a big enough one and it really cuts down on cleaning. IME for a certain size recommended for fish, double it and that should well cover you, especially given the volume of water in a turtle setup is going to be much smaller.

Thanks for advice got a good external filter now tank now 1/2 full as extra water needed to make filter work properly(?!?) his basking rock was under waterline so turtle dock was purchased plus new heater as old one wouldn't heat the new amount of water - few tense days worrying he would drown or die as she wasn't too happy about all the changes then got few plants and she basks on them now started eating and swimming around again so panic over! Still not using turtle dock but maybe needs more time to get used to that one but new filter great no more weekly tank cleaning!!

Yea cjf a problem with external filters can be the level of water they need to prime the filter. I shouldn't worry too much, though with a very young turtle I'd try and reduce the flow as many external canister filters will allow you to do.
