    I recently had my first sip of sloe gin up north whilst partridge shooting.. so impressed i packed kids, dog and her indoors into the car and went pickin sloes today ... just finished makin two bottles of the stuff.. i dont bother with a sip of hard stuff when out hunting if im driving but if the other guy is drivin i sometimes have a swig( by the way i aint no dipso;) and only indulge in the hardiest of weather) am i alone in this practice??

    I have some sloe gin left over from 3 yrs ago, fine stuff :rolleyes: nice 12yr old malt warms the cockles on a cold wet day ;)

    I've still a gallon of last years to get through:p,are you useing a freezer or have they had frost ?

    I made it last year and and picked he sloes this time as year aswell, it was rank, I didn't bother shaking the botles either, they say you should you should wait for the first frost.

    I just left em in the freezer for a couple of hrs, in saying that the receipe said it was optional, the author didnt bother so fingers crossed

    I had to leave the ones i put in the freezer for 3 days to get the skins to crack,didn't pick any yet this year,time enough in a fortnight.
