I ended up leaving for NZ two weeks ago after being made redundant. There were only days before finishing work and taking the flight. It only occured to me recently that I may be able to claim my tax back? I found the P50 form but having had huge difficulties with regard to claiming for a couple of months of a three day week in 2010, the usual doubt has crept in as to whether it is intended for a jobseekers etc.

Before I go down another long and winding road of despair with the Social Welfare system, have I got the right end of the stick here so far?

Sign up for PAYE anyime on www.ros.ie. They will post out a PIN number to your regd Irish address (put this down as your family address). Then get family member to open letter and send you PIN via sms or whatever. Once you got this up and running things are very easy.

There is a sticky on how to claim tax back.

You don't have to be in Ireland to do it as it is all online- read it and revert if any problems.
