I'm buying a DJM 600 tomorrow, then eventually a set of CDJ's, probably 400's. Is it not worth my while doing a part time course on Dj'ing no?

Absolutely not. Save your money for equipment and music, and practice, practice, practice. Plenty of tutorials on youtube.
