I have recently gone Sale Agreed on a house with oil fired central heating.

I am wondering if anyone knows how easy or hard it would be to change the heating to gas?

The house was built in the 1940's and i'm not sure yet about the pipes etc (still waiting on the surveyors report)

Trying to work out costs for doing all the work I want!

    Thanks!

it depends on what you are doing, in theory all you are doing is changing the boiler and not the existing plumbing.
    hope this is some help

fair enough point but if its LPG oil works out a lot cheaper, and the oil boiler maintenance and servicing is way cheaper

You might be right. Will have a good think about it, wont be doing anything in a hurry, will be next year if at all.

Sorry LPG= bottled gas (gas tank in garden)
as opposed to Natural Gas (gas mains)

thanks for the explanation! would definitely be going natural gas/mains if i do. seems the easiest option.

thank you so much for your help and advice! will have a good think about it over the next few months

it would be impossible to even hazard a guess without inspecting the job

Would you recommend a plumber or bord gains to quote ?

If you're installing a new gas boiler you will need a registered gas installer (RGI), not a plumber.

Bord Gais will advise you or you can consult the RGI website...
