I know, I know. All cyclists are rule breaking, devil-may-care grade A baztards. I know, I cycle all the time. If only we were more like motorists...

I follow the rules of the roads, I may break lights when there is no traffic or people crossing the road...

As a cyclist I see a lot of people in cars driving dangerously without any regard to the safety of cyclists and other road users

Jesus, good god, no! How do these cyclists sleep at night?

Why are you complaining? You get to dangerously overtake them twice while on the phone in your car with no NCT and 3 month out-of-date tax.

Isn't that what all drivers do? Oh no wait, it isn't, because that would just make me look ignorant.

Actually, if cyclists were like proper road users then they'd have licence plates / registration numbers on the bike - that way such behaviour could quickly identified and dealt with.

If the RSA can give out free hi-vis kit, why not number them uniquely and make cyclists wear them - that would kill two birds with one over-sized sledgehammer.

Oh wait, disregard the above until Friday.......

This is not following the rules of the road.

A cyclist (albit one in Australia) who was seriously injured in an accident is avdocating for registration...

Yeah damn cyclists, hundreds of people killed and injured on irish roads because of cyclists in their big motorised-four-wheeled metal boxes, oh wait...

Leaving the point of law breakers on both sides aside for a moment -- it's crazy the amount of times I've have to under/overtake cars a second time when they pass me out for no reason just seconds before they hit a queue of traffic and I have a clear cycle lane or can filter.

That's what you're supposed to do, brake for traffic lights. I see no issue here.

I often see cyclists not even wearing helmets. Madness.

Yeah, craziness. And the amount of motorists not wearing helmets is even crazier.

I saw a cyclist one day who didn't even have a bike.
He said it had been stolen - a likely excuse.

I didn't even see a cyclist on the way home this evening - they must all have no lights.

Also, cyclists, here's a tip - to ensure you can see cars coming towards you, cycle on the right side of the road instead of the left.

Finally, cycling can be boring, wear headphones connected to a nice loud i-pod or radio.

Why stop there for even more excitement try it blind folded. Then you can claim you broke the light because you couldn't see them.

OP I suggest you get yourself familiar with the forum before posting again. In particular further sweeping anti-cyclist generalisations like this will be considered trolling

I'll bite - most posters on here abide by the rules of the road. Yes, really. Yes, we've noticed other cyclists breaking red lights/the rotr. Yes, they're annoying. Most of us would want more enforcement of traffic laws for all road users - catch the guys breaking red lights on one, two, three or four wheels.

Some cyclists haven't got a clue - granted, but then again there are some awful drivers out there.

It amuses me how often, as a cyclist, I get honked and shouted at for overtaking a parked car in town that's obstructing the cycle lane...even if I only move out a little.

Yeah cyclists without lights at night are really pushing it...but generalisations don't help.

Usually the new cyclists are totally oblivious.

Let me put it this way

If you wish to contribute in a positive and constructive manner to the cycling forum, please feel free to do so.
If you start another thread in the cycling forum simply attacking cyclists in general, I shall ban you from the forum.
If you start a similar thread anywhere else in the public sections of boards, I will report you to the local mods as a troll (except if you do it in the Dublin County North forum, where I am one of the local mods;)).
There is a private forum you can apply to join where you can rant and rave until your heart's content.
If you wish to discuss this any further, please PM me.

    Thanks

    Beasty
