I dunno, better doing that than letting Roode's victory seem like nothing, match seemed like it had to be cut short and an Angle/Benoit style encounter isn't going to woo a crowd after all the Hogan stuff unfortunately. Should've had a match inbetween

cant believe they pussied out on roode, he had a huge wave of momentum and fan support going into bfg and would have been the perfect face of the new dixie reign.

kurt needs a break again anyways so it would have been no harm for him to have lost.

i hope theres a rematch at turning point or what was the point?

anyways i'm off to bed now night/morning all.

With that as the planned finish they should've closed the show with Hogan/Sting (which was awesome). I'm just completely deflated. And while I'd imagine they'll probably put the belt on Roode next month it'll just be too late. Timing is everything.

So Red and Yellow Hogan is winning the title next month yeah?

I really enjoyed the show, but ****ing hell that ending left a massive sour taste in my mouth and ruined the show.

TNA were probably thinking that Roode winning was too predictable but there is nothing wrong with that! Some of the best moments from wrestling are those that are a sure thing. Bobby will probably win on impact this week or the next PPV, but the momentum is gone now and we won't get that brilliant, feel good moment. It won't matter anymore, not nearly on the same level anyway.

Sting vs Hogan should have gone on last, and I can't believe I'm typing that.

Not suprised they didn't put the belt on Rhoode after all it was the right decision & Hogan's braindead comments about him didn't fill me with confidence. I bet they have Junkie Jailbird Jeff Hardy win the belt because Hogan has the horn about him & tna can't help but make idiotic decisions.

Possibly the worst ending to a PPV since WrestleMania 19. The parallels between TNA and HHH-mania WWE/Near death WCW are getting scary. The worst part is, I knew TNA would find a way to screw this up. When Hogan made those comments the other day, I knew Angle was walking away with the belt. Watch Hardy get it next month. Him or Hogan.

Roode didnt win :( what a shame kinda makes the BFG series pointless imo

How didn't people see this coming? Going into the show, there was one thing everyone knew; Roode was winning the title. So of course that's the bit TNA (and WWE would have done ditto) will swerve people on to "shock the world". Its Russo/TNA booking 101...

BFG is TNA's Mania I would think they would want to end the ppv on a high with fans going away happy even if he gets the title at the next Impact show or PPV his momentum is gone as Machismo Fan said above timing is everything. One of the best things TNA did this year was the BFG series and the building up and push of Roode but the end result was a complete let down.

I agree with what should have happened and I'd put money on Roode winning the title on free Tv within the next month.

What should have happened and what TNA were always going to book to swerve fans are two different things.

I put this in line with when Christian was due back in WWE. Everyone "knew" what was going to happen and because of that, WWE swerved everyone with a nonsensical Matt Hardy turn. When people hype themselves up over a garunteed outcome, the company changes it, thinking they are being smart but really just screwing over people in the process....

Feels like TNA said "people bought the PPV to see Roode win the belt....we've already got their money -- why not hold it off til next month and get pop two buyrates?"

TNA stiffed their fans on the only result that mattered on this show, the only thing they've done right over the last 2 months (building Roode). For their sake let's hope they didn't "Lex Luger" Roode, that people will get annoyed about not getting the pay off, and branding him negatively over it. Winning a some stupid TV taping or random PPV won't mean half as much as winning the big one at TNA's WrestleMania. TNA got greedy.

Either that or Hogan's influence has f*cked over TNA's future again.

TNA continue their history of dropping the ball with people who are hot (Pope, Joe, Kaz, LAX, Tomko, even Curry Man) but they got much further than they usually do with Roode which led me to believe they'd go all the way (and they probably will in the next two months but it'll be too little too late).

You'd have to be concerned though with how Roode wasn't nearly as over as he should've been (though being in Pennsylvania may have hindered them there). It's a pity Angle was so visibly injured because the match wasn't nearly as good as it should've been either with Angle being a step slow and not nearly as sharp as he usually is (though considering Angle is hurt it baffles me even more that Roode didn't win).

We'll see where they go with it, they might have some master plan (very doubtful I know but we'll see) but the momentum behind Roode will have significantly diminished (under the vast majority of circumstances) by next month and probably even this Thursday. On the bright side, Hogan and Sting by far produced the best part of the PPV.

I thought if Hogan or Sting lost they'd have to retire so should Hogan or was his clause only to give Dixie the company back

My understanding was Sting retires, Hogan hands over the company. Hogan is unlikely to wrestle very often again anyway so it was sort of an unofficial retirement match for him.

    disappointing ppv

    disappointing ppv

I reckon contentment of this PPV started and ended with Roode and the world title match. Like it's the only result that mattered, and was the difference between a 5 and ~8 PPV. It underdelivered in-ring and result-wise and everyone's left with a sour taste in our mouths :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,933 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I enjoyed it but that ending was a disgrace tbh. Felt fair sorry for Roode.
I was dreading the hogan stuff but i really enjoyed it. Kinda brought me back to my child hood if that makes sense.

Only got to watch this last night thought it was above average

The undercard matches were pretty good especially Anderson Vs Bully Ray ( even with the botched ending )

Sting Vs Hogan well the match itself was not great but the ending was awesome the should have ended the PPV with this

And well Angle Vs Roode I think less said about this the better

lol @ TNA. They do a BFG series for months and the winner can't beat Kurt Angle? What a pointless waste of time. How can a casual fan believe in Bobby after all this hype now? Very similar to Lex Luger not winning the belt at Summerslam 93 - and Lex WON that match via count out.

So on their go home show they ended with a very rubbish shot of Hogan having his boot on Stings neck when they went off the air (should have been a decisive shot of Hogan standing over Sting dominant) and on the show itself a shot of Bobby looking like a sad idiot.

    TNA are a joke.

It reeks of sabotage that Hogan/Sting was far better received and booked than Roode/Angle. Shame, the rest of the PPV was decent

The absolute highlight of BFG for anybody that hasn't seen it:
