Songs not transferring to iPod Touch

My brother has an 8gb iPod touch and recently reinstalled iTunes. However, since then it's been acting up. He lost all of his songs and apps on the iPod. Didn't really matter at first as they were still on the computer in iTunes. So he went to sync it again but it was very slow. Eventually the message came up saying…

My brother has an 8gb iPod touch and recently reinstalled iTunes. However, since then it's been acting up. He lost all of his songs and apps on the iPod. Didn't really matter at first as they were still on the computer in iTunes.

So he went to sync it again but it was very slow. Eventually the message came up saying 'syncing iPod Song 1 of 875' or something but when it was finished syncing there was no content on the iPod.

Now the thing is it's not a problem with the iPod because I tried it with my computer (he uses my mother's laptop) and my songs could go onto his iPod just fine.

Anyone have any ideas? I might reinstall iTunes again to see if that'll help. Also my mother's laptop is Vista and Mine is W7 if that makes a difference.
