    Hi,
Just wondering what was the worst photography item/accessory you bought? Thought it would be good, use a lot but ended up in the drawer/sold quickly

I bought extension tubes for about €7, put them on my camera twice, each time couldn't get them to work, they they got stuck, I got a mild panic trying to get them off and vowed never to put them on again.
To this day they sit in the back of a drawer and every now and again I say I'll try them again but don't. They say I'll throw them out but don't....

    Cheers,
    Pa.

    Gorillapod -

I think I semi-consciously convinced myself that this would be handy so I could steady my camera on a tree branch or gate (???).. then bought it and asked myself "wtf will I use this for".

I think I tinkered with it on my kitchen table for 10 mins before putting it into storage. Don't think I've seen it for about 3 years.

I think the rate of impulsive buying starts to settle as you get a little clearer what you want out of your photography. I have, in my press, and used once or maybe twice,

    2x Nikon Tele-converter

    75->300 lens

Nikon PB-4 bellows (Naturally at the time I HAD to get the most expensive one with tilt and shift on the lens end, thing is so heavy I've used it about 2 or 3 times and then shelved it)

Databack MF-23 for my F4, so complicated it you actually need to bring the hefty manual with you to work out how to use it.

The above I actually regret buying in the first place. There are more things that I bought, used, loved a little bit, and then shelved for more practical reasons, including ...

A yashica mat 124g that never gets used anymore, but more because it was replaced by my Bronica

A pola SX-70 that became defunct once the price of pola film started to reach jaw dropping levels ...

I should probably EBay it all at some point.

Sigma 150-500. I paid €1,100 + €150 for the filter and I've used it once. I should have saved up and bought the Canon 70-200mm L Is 2.8. I'm sick as a parrot!!!

Cheap set of ND filters, absolutely unusable due to horrible red/brown colour cast.

a "Monster Pod" most definitely the worst thing I ever purchased! A 5" circle of goo which is supposed to "stick to anything and hold your camera fast" HAH! I dont know how I was so gullible. :o Well it did have a nice little hard case for it to travel in.

+ 1, bought a set (2, 4 and 8) for each of my 3 lenses, should have tried one first :(

    Here's an example

After googling around for a battery grip for my 1100D I'm starting to regret getting it. Nothing but posts advising people to get something else instead :(

Why? Is it the Canon grip or some knock off? I had a grip on my 350D and it was always on the camera, I just loved it. Throw in a set of NIMH AA and it'll go for ages.

surely that's easily correctable if you shoot in RAW?

A generic third party vertical grip for my D80. I hated the feel of it in my hand. Having said this I've got a couple of lenses that haven't exactly been worn down by use!

Battery and sd card slot were combined in the 1100d, the camera wont work with the lid open so theres no such thing as a battery grip for it :(

Its nice and suits me fine, just a shame its not as good as it could be

I think I misread your post. You were lamenting the lack of a grip for the 1100D not that getting a grip for your 1100D was the worst thing you've bought.

No grip for that body, ouch. :(
