Stolen iphone - privacy worry?

My phone was stolen in town on saturday night. The battery was dead at the time and I have it pin protected and also when i turn the phone on I have to give an additional different pin for the sim. I cancelled the phone through vodafone on Monday morning.

Im aware there are ways and means around unlocking phones and then going on to re-sell them, my question is will they be able to see all of my messages and emails if they do gain access to the phone? My work emails were on it (approx 170) and has very sensitive personal info about clients of mine.

Also if the plug the phone into a lap top will all my apps etc come up on the screen and my music ?

I also called Vodafone and they said it would be 600 to replace? My employer got it for me for 199 when i joined the company so how can this be?

    Any help appreciated

To get passed the pin and unlock the finder/thief will need to restore the phone so this will erase all your app's/emails/texts.

All unless your pin and unlock were easy guesses - like 0000 or 1234.

Your work place got you the iphone at that price by using an upgrade on their account, you are pricing it by not using an upgrade - you would need your works permission to use one of their upgrades again for a new one.

    Cheers for that.

We are not entitled to an upgrade unfortunately, he is with O2 and im vodafone and im 5 months away from an upgrade.

Disaster, you might be better to settle for a 100 euro sim free phone to keep you going for the 5 months and upgrade to iphone 4S then, unless you really need your apps/features.

Buy a 2nd hand iphone off adverts.ie for about €350 ish, I sold my IPhone 4 32GB unlocked for €400 3 weekends ago so a 16GB should be cheaper.

I need my work emails 24/7 so will have to get an iphone again.

To be honest ive been trawling gumtree and adverts.ie the last 2 days. I wonder how many of them are stolen and I wonder if mine is there!

My insurance co advised today that i didnt register my iphone when i opened my account with them, I did - the first week in september, I vividly remember giving them my IMEI number too!

    This is just a disaster!

If you get a new iPhone first thing you should do is download the find my iPhone app! It's free and let's you wipe your phone from your pc in case you loose it or is stolen.
