    Anyone have one of these?

Quality of initial DM800 clones was brutal... presumably these are the same?

Picture is digital so quality should be constant.

Build quality. I know someone with a clone DM800.. has the dodgy tuner that has glitching on some channels and the pointless display on the front is starting to fail.

Any of the clones I have come across are badly built and poor isolation when using scart leads there is a constant hum, also u take the risk of goosing the box if messing with software on them. Stay clear of buy somethink like a technomate tm500 which does exactly the same thing.

    TM500 isn't HD is it?

I am considering a DM500HD as they do HD (obviously) and can play media over the LAN.

Get one of the newer clone dm800's. All those problems with the hd glitching have bee sorted. I got one from satboxes.com this time last year and it's working perfectly powering my 88cm motorized dish

At the same price, isn't the DM500HD a better buy? It has a 400MHz dual core CPU, vs a 300MHz single core in the DM800, and has proper HDMI.

The front display on the 800 is pretty useless, and the only thing it has that the 500 doesn't is USB. But that can be added to the 500 fairly easily.

TM500 is an SD only box.
TM800 is HD box not long out. Havent tried one yet myself.
