    Hi All,

Hopefully someone will be able to help me. Our firebird oil burner was in a bad need for a servie, it had started to cut in and out. We got a technician to service it last night but its still cutting in and out. The funny thing is that it was running fine until he went to put the cover back on then it would just cut in and out?????? In fairness to him he spent about an hour trying to see what the problem was. He changed the photocell and clean the small round filter at the back of the burner. (we have no filter in the fuel line). We have only just got a fill of oil and it didnt run out so its not air locked. Why would it cut out when the cover is being out back on, has anyone come across this problem before, any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance;)

Did he use a flue gas analyser while servicing your boiler ?

There is a leak of flue gas from a seal in the case, either on the mounting flange, on the Heatexchangers door gasket or on the flue connection, with the cover on the burner is ingesting it's own flue gas and this is collapsing the flame, hence why it works with the cover off

A amateur problem, should have solved that in 5 mins!
