From the small bit of research i've done this seems to be a regular issue. Can anyone recommend a fix or should I send back to Apple? (phone is 10 months old)

    Thanks

Get onto apple straight away they will replace it for you free if it is warranty. Mine was just out of it so they wouldent replace it so used my insurance to replace it.

Pain in the arse to be honest They should do a swap with you.

Try spraying compressed air around the button.
If not check my ad on adverts and I can fix it for you

Having a problem with the home button. It actually works fine response wise but it has now in the last month or so started getting stuck in and I have to try flick it to pop it out.

Anybody know a quick fix for this or will I have to send it to be repaired. If I send it to be repaired what kind of cost could I be looking at. I have the phone about 14 months.

Edit: just saw your post Cathal. Do you think it would be easy to sort?

The whole phone needs to be stripped just for this. I hope it isn't expensive to sort cause it would be a serious waste of a phone if I get a 4s and this one is just sitting idle as it is perfect otherwise.

This has happened to me. Problem fixed itself when I connected to my pc and updated my software and synced my phone. The button had been unresponsive. If it sticking in, that is a different problem altogether.

it's not as bad as you think. just follow a system, keep all the screws you take out in order then when you are putting it back just replace the order. I use something like this http://image.ec21.com/image/sheelpans/simg_GC04547239_CA04547686/Bun_Baking_Tray.jpg to keep everything in order.

    Do this check:-

The problem is software if your home button works fine when the phone is charging.

I did a restore and the problem vanished;)

    otherwise the prob is hardware.....

My phone was replaced in march by insurance after it was stolen, brand new phone delivered,i presume this phone has a brand new 12 month warranty with it?
Because the home button on it is unresponsive from time to time, works as it should from time to time then requires 4-5 pushes to activate it,will i just contact apple for a replacement?
I will pay the €28 for the replacement to be delivered straight away, the current (broken) phone will go back and that'll be it?
In other words once ive paid the €28 and the (sometimes) unresponsive home button phone will go back then the replacement is mine?
Ie if apple cant replicate the problem what happens? Do they want the replacement back & return my phone?
