‘Too Long To Read’ Summary: Open to almost anything, looking for something creative and fun, nothing boring.

Guitarist recently moved to Galway looking for something interesting. Would start a new band from scratch or join an existing band.

I'd be open to a lot of things but just for example -

    Originals:
Would be looking for creative people, good tight musicians, playing music with groove and energy.

Main influences would be things like Funk, Soul, Motown, lots of various African music; as well as bands like TV On The Radio, LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture; electronic and dance music like the The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, The Prodigy; I'm into Drum’n’Bass, Dubstep, etc; I was weaned on 90’s Alternative and Punk (love The Clash); I like rock with a groove like Rage Against The Machine, Led Zeppelin; I like a bit of folk/country/Americana, I'm really into newer blues-influenced stuff like The Black Keys, The White Stripes, The Kills.

Would be up for playing with singer-songwriters if it’s good.

Some current Irish bands that I like: RSAG, Fight Like Apes, Jape, The Hot Sprockets, The River Valley Band, Bocs Social, Clown Parlour, Jennifer Evans, The Redneck Manifesto, El Hombre Jokes, ASIWYFA, Adebisi Shank, The Cast Of Cheers, Noise Control, Super Extra Bonus Party, Twin Kranes, The Riptide Movement...

I can’t be dealing with The Coronas or Snow Patrol or their ilk.
Definitely not into generic, meat-and-two-veg indie rock/classic rock, e.g. Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Metallica etc. Nothing against them, just not my thing.

    Covers:
Stuff with energy, that’s fun, and people can dance to. Nothing boring or self-indulgent.
I’d be into some old school Rock’n’Roll, Soul, R’n’B. Blues, Rockabilly, Surf, jump, swing, shuffle, boogie, whatever.

I’m a DJ as well and I’m really into all kinds of everything.

I play bass as well as guitar and am equally proficient in both, although if someone is looking for me to play bass it would have to be something with a groove, and a really good drummer and guitarist! I am deffo open to playing bass though, I love it.

I’ve plenty of experience, live and in studio. If anyone needs a bass player or guitarist for a recording session I wouldn’t be at all fussy about what kind of music it is, I have recorded with singer-songwriters, bands and electronic producers.

I’m pretty much open at the moment, I’m new to Galway and don’t know a lot of people yet. If you’re looking for someone to play with give me a shout and we’ll take it from there.

What age range are you looking for or more specifically, what age are you yourself?

hey bud. Would you have any interest in starting up a ska band? I'm looking to start a band playing originals and taking big influence from Sublime, the clash, the Specials etc.

Malice, I didn't specify age because I'm open to all ages really.

    I'm 30, although you'd never guess!

In the last couple of years I've played with people from 18 to late 50's.
I suppose I'd looking for people over 20ish, but so long as they've a bit of maturity and can play well that's what matters.

    hi,

i would be interested in meeting up to see what happens, i've played music profesionally on and off all my life, im 40. i would be interested in doing an acoustic set that would interpret or do an alternative take on popular or current music, this would be with a view to getting a few gigs around galway. i've played in a few cover bands and dont think i could face doing straight covers on any genre of music, the very thought depresses me. looking to spend time to develop an interesting set.

i live in the city, drop me a line if your interested. i play guitar, bass, piano and vocals
