    Captain – John Terry
    Throw In – Gary Neville
    Free Kicks – Steven Gerrard
    Penalties – Steven Gerrard/Samuel Etoo

My formation is effectively a dynamic 4-2-3-1

The beauty of my team lies in its versatility and workrate. The team has game changing superstars in Gerrard and Etoo to add that flair when it comes to the tight games.

I built my team around Gerrard as I feel that it is the only way to get the best out of him. He is playing in his favored position behind Samuel Etoo, another amazing game winning player who is also playing in his favored position upfront off the last man where he can utilize his devastating pace and match winning ability to the full.

My general game plan will be to get Phil Neville to act as the defensive mid to protect the back four and get the ball back while Carrick works as a deep lying playmaker to initiate plays to the forward quartet. Depending on the midfield opposition, they may push further forward to provide extra attacking outlets.

With Anelka and Bellamy on the wings and Etoo up front, there is some scope for flexibility if one of the players is being nullified in their position which I feel provides a great outlet if some of the attacking players are getting frustrated. The Inside Forwards will be expected to track back and help out defensively as both full backs will be providing support in attacking phases of play.

This strategy depends heavily on the opposition wings, if there is a significant threat on one wing, they may be requested to play more defensively to combat this with the attacking outlets of Gerrard and the other wing used a lot more.

Should I come up against a compact midfield trio, I may consider moving Gerrard back to nullify the opposition and focus more of my attacking play through the wide areas.

Overall, my team is very balanced, allows for tactical and strategic changes if needed and I feel that I have one of the best defensive units in the competition. My Goalkeeper is a safe pair of heads and has vast experience so I expect him to provide a level of security and consistency for the rest

    4-3-3

    Seamen

    Samba
    Upson
    Dunne
    Taylor

    Young
    Delph
    Dyer

    Hernandez
    D.Villa
    Odemwingie

As you can see I wanted to focus on my front line. All 3 of my strikers are well capable of nicking a last minute goal if neccessary. Fr example Hernadez got a vital goal vs Liverpool on Saturday.

Midfield: I went for 3 midfielders that have pace and you can pass/cross to the front line. Ashley young is on top form at this point of the season. Getting involved with England and MUFC. Im hoping that Dyer can hold the CM position.

Defenders: 4 Defenders that are capable of keeping a clean sheet. taylor can attack if needs being. Dunne supremecy was demonstrated vs Russia. Samba is in my opinion of the the best Centre Backs in the Game . And Upson and Stoke are very good at keeping a clean sheet even against the Top Four.

Luckycharms wins this for me. His front 4 of Gerrard, Anelka, Bellamy, Eto'o have too much fire power and the ability to all switch positions would defeat even the best back line.

Copper pipe has a strong back line but the pace up front is frightening and his back line is just too slow, if they drop up to defend deep that will invite Gerrard and Carrick into advanced positions where they could do serious damage.

Copper pipe midifeld 3 would cause problems but if Gerrard, Bellmay and Anelka revert to a 4-1-2-2-1 they would snuff out that threat as well as been abale to hit them on the counter.

LuckyCharms wins, far too much for Delph to do defensively and with a forward line like that then it's going to be too easy.

Think lucky charms just has that extra bit of firepower and his defines and midfield seem quite solid. I think copper pipe just doesn't have a great midfield.

Lucky charms to win easily on account of his team's superior shape and balance, and the strength of his front 4.
Although CP has a good forward line - there is no one to create chances from wide and I feel his midfield will be overrun.

Lucky charms for me no matter how good a forward line is they still need a ball to do anything and i just cant see copper pipes team retaining the ball

Lucky charms for me. Sorry CP, you're well equipped up front but that midfield looks far too lightweight. Your backline while it is solid wouldn't have much pace and the midfield wouldn't offer it much protection.

Lucky Charms and it's not even close. One of the best teams in the draft for me, very balanced team with plenty of quality.

A team with Dyer will always struggle, so I think I'm another one for luckycharms..

That's a strong defence except left back with luckycharms, despite having Carrick in midfield and Evra at left back which initially stuck out as weak points. I think copper pipe's wingers might have joy there going forward. However I think the midfield is a place where even Gerrard would dominate

    Nathan Dyer, nor Kieron...

Anyway... Copper pipe has four CB's, which sticks out quite a bit. I don't think LC's is that amazing, but he is really superior here, due to much better balance, even if I don't think the player selection is necesarily the best...

i'd have to agree with this, far better balance to LCs team and man do I feel sorry for Delph as he would have to do huge amounts of work in that midfield imo

Definitely LC for me in this one as copperpipes midfield just isnt strong enough combined with a lack of pace in the backline, I just cant see this one being competitive.

Copperpipe's side just looks paperthin, you would walk through that midfield. Easy win for LuckyCharms.

Luckycharm for me - He'd tear Coppers team apart up against that midfield

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,788 ✭✭✭Benimar

Just to echo most others, Copper pipes team is totally unbalanced. The (admittedly great) forwards would get no ball, as the midfield would be destroyed.

Also 4 CBs at the back doesn't give any opportunity to create from full back.

A good team (LC) beats good individuals (CP) every time.

LC for me. 3 strikers, 2 wingers, 1 centre mid and 4 centre backs???

    CONCEDED DEFEAT

Best of luck to LuckyCharms in next round
