Course change? ...or Drop out?

So, I'm 4 weeks into first year science (Psychology through science) and I don't think it's my cup of Tea. The only module I enjoy at all is Computer Science 101.

I was thinking of dropping out because I'm not happy here even outside of lecture hours.

Should I drop out? Or could I change to arts and hope for the best?

Can one change courses like that?

If I could I'd do Computer Science with maybe Psychology and Greek and Roman Civilisation or Philosophy.

Is this extremely stupid and/or impractical?

I suggest talking to the people in the Academic Advisory office (it's moved to Education House now I think, which is just behind Rowan house/student services building). They are awesome in there, and they'll be able to help you go through all the things you need to know. Make that your first port of call.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I would maybe consider dropping out. If you drop out before October 31st, you will not have to pay fees next year if you start another course. The reason I say this is because it might be a bit late to transfer into Arts at this stage. But I don't know that for definite - you might be well able to catch up on what you've missed so far :) You can always apply to do arts next year and do those subjects, or even something completely different.

I dropped out of college when I was in third year because I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep on with the course, amongst other problems. The time away really made me realise what I wanted to do (which happened to be the course I was in so I went back :p). But make sure and do what you want, and don't feel pressured to stay doing something you're not sure about :)

I wouldn't drop out without considering all your options, I too advise you speak to Rose in the Academic Advisory. Weigh up your options, talk to the right people, have you made any friends yet? It can take up to Xmas to really settle down and get used to everything, it's a massive change going from home, school to Uni,

Best of luck whatever you decide:)
