    posting the same topic in more than one forum. you should pick the most suitable forum and then just post in that one.

    No, spamming is just advertising effectively.

    Cross-posting is fairly rare in these modern times, but it's when the same topic is posted to a couple of forums all of which are usually relevant to the topic. So starting a thread about a child's school problem in both the parenting and education forums, for example.

    Spam is posted to many random forums indiscriminately and usually in a short space of time.
