FreeSAT HD will give you the UK channels in HD for free.
Freesat needs the same satellite dish setup as Sky.

FreeVIEW HD does not yet broadcast in Northern Ireland, you may be able to get Freeview HD from Wales if you live on the East coast, but you won't get C4 HD on it.

BBC HD via an aerial is only available if you can receive a terrestrial signal from Wales. If you can then you will require a FreeviewHD spec TV.

It will be available from the NI transmitters on 24th Oct 2012.

Its also available FTA on satellite.

Satellite dish and freesat receiver. Buy the kit and install it yourself.

While you are at it you might want to look into a box that can handle both Freesat and Soarview, with both the dish and antenna hooked into the back of it. That way you can have all the channels on the one box... makes channel surfing a lot easier!

... and would allow for the possibility of recording one Saorview channel while watching another as there would be two tuners - TV & combo box

ya but as I mentioned in the OP I already have Saorview

You do, but if you want to switch between RTE and BBC you'd have to switch to the satellite box, and then back to the telly again to go back to RTE. It makes channel surfing a bit more difficult.

If you get a box that does both saorview and satellite, then you can have all the Irish and English channels on the one list, if you follow what I mean. So flicking through the channels is simple. Extra cost for such a box compared to satellite only would be only 30 euros or so.

    It's what I'd do anyway.
