I bought a car off them but it was about 7 years ago. It was agreed prior to sale they would replace the timing belt. However, on the day I picked it up I found out when I got home the belt wasn't replaced. I brought it straight back up and after a bit of a "discussion" they refunded the cost of a belt change. In their defence, I did the deal with one sales person who agreed to the belt change and another sales person on the day I picked the car up. Maybe it was just a miscommunication. Warranty offered only covered engine and gearbox, something to keep in mind.

Having said all that, it was the most reliable car I ever owned.

....looking at a Volvo. The salesman maintained that it was a grade A car, and "a lot of car for the money" (which it would have been if the car was "grade A"). I was practically run off the lot when I pointed out that a lot of expensive work was needed to make it grade A" so we should negotiate.

A lot of traders like these just buy the trade-in cars that franchise dealers don't want on their forecourts at trade terms (no warranty, no assurance of roadworthiness), bundle a 3rd party warranty and sell on for a profit. Personally I'd rather buy a trade/private car and (if necessary) buy a warranty from somewhere like carprotect.ie and save myself €500-€1,000.
