Inside Tyre wear - drivers side front

I had the front bushings changed about 6 months ago. Just noticed a lot of wear to the inner side of drivers side front tyre. Left side is wearing too but not as bad. Should the car have been tracked after bushings were replaced? I would say yes but mechanic that did the job is saying no..

    Your thoughts please..

    Oh It's a VW passat B6. Tdi

The wheel camber is off...hence why it's wearing the inner shoulder of the tyre.

To say he said 'no' would be wrong of me to say but I know he didn't. Incidentally I swapped rear wheels to front and the vibration in wheel once I hit 100km is unbelievable. Two new tyres and tracking on shopping list this week.. just when I had a few quid spare..

Same thing happened my Passat. It is 4 wheel alingment you need and not traditional tracking.

I had it done a couple of weeks ago on my E46 after fitting (yet again!) new wishbones/bushings .

Not necessarly no,,,,Some places will have Laser Gages but just do front whell tracking,,,You will have to ask for 4 wheel allignment to be done if thats what you want,,,

i think you definitely need alignment done. there are plenty of places around that do it. Cost between €50 and €65 in my experience.

You need to get it checked out. The wear you are now seeing may be from before the bushings were changed and has only become apparent now.
Sometimes you can get away with changing wishbones, bushings and/or other suspension bits without rechecking the alignment but its not best practice. Its half-arsed basically.

Excessive toe out or negative camber (fecked balljoints) will cause wear on the inside of the tyre like what you see.
The issue you are having is nothing to do with having a 4wheel or 2 wheel alignment. 4 is nice, but that's not why you are burning the inside of your front's off.

Also to note,,,I assume you have checked your tyre pressures,,,nothing will wear a tyre on one-side quicker than a under inflated tyre,,,

This isn't a under inflated type I'm afraid.

Yes I've checked other area's track rod, ball joints and all in order. I'll get the tracking done to start and take it from there.

If you have a vibration through the steering wheel at about 100kph then you probably need your tyres balanced and examined for bulges or a buckled rim.
