Oldtime Country/Rock & Roll Band Galway

    Hi all,

    Im a 32 year old Galway city rhythm guitarist/bassist looking to form a rough & ready, oldtime country music band.
    Interested in Covers and Originals and willing to work with like minded people of a similar age.
    Looking to form anything from a 4 -6 piece band with fiddle, banjo, slide guitar, harmonica, lead & harmony singers.

    Country music like Gram Parsons, The Stones, Hank Williams, The Band, Willie Nelson, Gene Clark, J.J Cale, Johnny Cash, The Byrds, Dylan & Neil Young
    .. basically straight-up country with a rock n'roll slant.
    Am also interested in reworking 60's rock n' roll songs into country versions.

    A sense of fun a definite plus!

    Hi Conor Sounds like a great idea . Im a bass player and would love to work on a project like that. The only problem is I live in Athlone . Are you based in galway city or are you nearer to Athlone. it will be interesting to see what kind of response you get from other musicians. Feel free to contact me with more details. Cheers, Gerry

    Hi Guitarist Lead/rythm/vocals with experience here, but have been off the road for a while. I'd be interested. I'm into rock, blues and country , especially country rock-anything from Neil Young, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, The Eagles, JJ Cale , The Band etc. Been writing songs for a good while and am happy to collaborate. I'd like to get an original band going if possible, but I'm up for a jam and a chat to see what happens anyway. PM me. Cheers

    50, but don't let that put you off yet! I can send you a link to songs I've recorded over the last six months- I have a decent enough recording setup. They're between rock folk blues and country, been experimenting

    Hi Conor,
    28 year old, experienced lead guitarist/vocalist here, play some mandolin too. Big Stones fan, love the country vibe mixed with rock n' roll. Neil Young, Byrds, Cash, Jerry Reed & more. I have a big blues background too with loads of slide & delta style guitar so I reckon it would lend itself well. Play a bit in galway so have some contacts for gigs.
