What stood out for you in the tournament?

For me it was ferris lifting genia and carrying him backwards like he was a small child.

Dagg's offload for nonu's try was pretty good as well.

    Foot in touch.

I'd say the first Namibian try vs Sth Africa was the standout moment for me. It was the try of the tournament, in my view.

No it wasn't. It can be clearly seen from the slow motion reply that it wasn't in touch when he passed

Thought it looked obvious in the replay that it wasn't

It can actually be "clearly seen" that his right heel hits the wash as he offloads.
Not that it matters now of course but he was in fact, in-touch.

Better team on the day won though. 'In Your Face' rugby wasn't a surprise. Just really hard for Aussies to deal with.

Cooper really did have a shocking WC. He's always had his flaws but he was very bad particularly against Ireland I thought.

The Harsh red card for Wales at weekend for me.

Ireland beating the Aussies was fantastic too.

The rain battered Contepomi standing there to convert the try against Scotland to put them ahead. He had missed the previous ones...

Tinga prop shouting and roaring at the French front-row before a scrum! Enjoyed that

Drew Mitchell pulling up with a hamstring injury. Was sad to watch after all the effort he put in to make it to the WC.

McCaw did something similar to genia as well last weekend which although not as impressive somehow took the shine off Ferris's previous carrying

Fuimaono-sapolu's twitter rant does it for me. Biggest on the field is a tie between Argentina's brilliant tries in the NZ and Scotland games, the 2 best tries of the tournament imo given the context.

It might not be that iconic, but McCaw's rip on Sunday. He was flipped over an Aussie guy's back, yet somehow managed to rip the ball before he hit the deck and turn it over.

Thought that myself at first view and it looks like it might be the case in real time but the replays show his foot wasn't in touch when he offloads. 1:35 onwards in the video below.

Tough judge? Maybe. Not arguing with their call. I saw it as different, thats all and as said, it bears no difference on game at all.
Commentators? I'm sorry but the guy on Setanta, Miles Harrison or Ryle Nugent don't really swing it.
Pundits? They've already said a dangerous tackle is only a yellow card in big games so I wouldn't bank too much on their calls. They get a bit emotional from the one screen.
Everyone who thanked you? Great. Thats showed me :)
You? Fine. I submit since you called it.

Here's another: Quinnell to Edwards in alleged 'try of the century' = blatantly forward but ignored.

I'd love to see still frame. But re-watched it a couple of times and cannot genuinely see the foot touching it before he off-loads. I stand to be corrected though.

I know I'm repeating myself but this last Welsh try against Australia was just fantastic. It definitely would have been THE try of this WC if it was the winning or equalising one. Anyway, fantastic play, 38 or so phases. Pure lovely rugby. What a way of ending a World Cup. I know that for many only the result counts but for me that's THE play of this WC. If there was a Panache prize, Wales will get it for that try.

House of the flying Dagg-ers image

That is an amazing photo - everything great about Rugby, brutality, grace, ninjas, focus.

    The offload just after this was uncredible. Try of the tournament. {foot in touch.... true I'd mentally blocked that out...}

Moment of the WC for me was Tonga winning, despite the fact that I was screaming at them for not getting the bonus point for tries. They can't add, but they can sure play rugby - player population of about 50 semi-pros/pros! Unreal.

True that the Tonga win over us was something in this WC. But as for the taunting of our scrum, the fact that they were pushed back in this play and actually just conceded a try on that action ... well kind of kills it in my view.

Regarding the taunting of the French scrum.

    Really?

To me that is just pathetic really. He gave a way a penalty earlier in the game for a stupid late tackle which was kicked. Then he goads the French before this scrum which they win and then score a try from. I don't see any class what so ever in what he did.

He's Tongan and he's just been part of a massive upset. He's allowed do that sort of thing. The team had earned it.

    matthew8 wrote: »

    Why ?

Too often I see people getting mad about tries resulting from personal achievements (for example the flying Dagg-er one). I'm not saying they are not great tries but what I particularly liked in the Welsh try is that they had to fight the hell out their a*se to score it. So many phases during 4/5 min with a strong Australian defense but they did not give up. They were pushed back. But they continued until the 83rd or so min. The game was already lost but they just wanted to finish this World Cup with some class. And IMO they did it! I really admire that level of commitment.

When I see "my" French team being in the final with such luck and nonchalance... If I were Welsh I would be very proud of my team. I can't say the same of the one I support. I'd like them to produce something like that on Sunday but I don't honestly believe in it. The only "thing" that most people In France and elsewhere seem to rely on is this irrational "special" game we usually produce at a WC that we didn't yet see at this one. That's quite sad in fairness to only have that...

No I disagree. Simply put if you call it you got to bring it. The Tongan prop made a joke of himself.
He called it but he didn't bring it!

Have to agree. It's simply double standards. If it was the French front row mouthing and swearing at the Tongans some quarters would be calling for him to be disciplined and would claim it a disgrace. There's nothing impressive about a player taunting and shouting at his opposition payers with the game won.
