    Pretty shocking: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-15341136

I wonder if is this the consequence of ignoring God, and the resultant de-valuing of human life? China has a massive abortion and human rights problem. It is also an atheist nation. Isn't Ireland embarking on a similar path?

I propose that when a nation sidelines God and tramples human rights, we can't be too surprised when this is the result: a kid knocked down in the street, not once, but twice, and ignored by passers-by.
    'Lacking conscience'

The footage showed the van hitting the little girl, pausing briefly while she was under the vehicle and then driving off, running over her legs.

It then showed about a dozen passers-by, including cyclists, a motorcyclist and a woman and child, noticing the little girl lying injured in the street but walking on.

The child, Yue Yue, was taken to hospital for emergency surgery but pronounced brain dead on Sunday, the China Daily reported.

pretty sure even an "evil atheist" in this country would stop and help an injured toddler. I would.

A terrible thing all right, though I am not sure what abortion has to do with it.

Bystander apathy is a fairly well known phenomenon. I expect it has been around for a very long time, but was recognised and became the subject og experimentation in the 60s. You can read about it here:

I expect that every country, irrespective of how many people in it subscribe to religion, has had occurrences that make us wonder if we are the same species.
