Opel Combo 1.3 CTDI Mileometer "Gone"

    Hi All

I've had my opel combo for about 18months, its an 06 and I'm the second owner from new. Its never been used as a work van and generally treated well. Its got roughly 100k Kilometers on the clock.

Yesterday I noticed that I couldn't see the Mileometer any more, it was not light up. When I looked really closely at the screen I could just about make out the digits but it was really tough so it appears like the "Light" has gone in it. Will this be expensive to get fixed?

I'm off to Brazil in December and I will be leaving the car at home for at least 3 months. It doesn't really effect me too much in regular driving (as far as I'm aware). Do I really need to get it fixed urgently?

    Thanks
    Regards
    Ian

Is it the speedometer display light that is gone or the digital lcd that displays the mileage that is gone?

The former is probably just a blown bulb, the latter is probably the lcd display itself which would need to be replaced. Replacing this might require the new one to have the original mileage reset.

Digital LCD that displays the mileage, you can still see it, but very very faint.

It shouldn't interfer with driving so I'd get it looked at when you come back.

Does the Combo have a dimmer for the dash lights that you might have knocked, by any chance?

Thought I'd broke my sisters new Focus years ago, but I'd just moved the wheel from bright to dark.

It does, but it only effects the speedo area not the milometer.

If you can still faintly see the digits then its just the bulb thats blown.
