iMessage Alerts

A quick question - is anyone else getting in-app alerts when using iMessage and if so, can you disable it?

I had a quick google and only found a few instances of people saying they experienced this and couldn't disable it. Which surprised me because I would have thought this would piss people off no-end as there's no need for an alert if you're in the app when it arrives.

At the time I tried it, I have my phone on silent and set to vibrate for a text. My friend had his tones on. I got a vibrate alert when viewing the conversation within the app and he got a sound alert. Another friend told me they weren't experiencing this at all and their settings seemed to be the same as mine within Notifications.

    Any ideas?

Turn off message alerts in the notification centre?

But I'd rather keep them - it being a main feature of the new iOS. Shouldn't there be a way to still have notifications but not to alert you if you're already in the app? That seems utterly redundant to me...
One, it's annoying and two, it unnecessarily drains your battery.

I remember a while ago Viber, possibly WhatsApp, added this feature and so many people complained about it they removed it a day or so later. I just don't get it. If I'm the only one experiencing it then that's a separate issue.

I'm certainly not getting them while in the app. Resetting network settings may clear this anomaly for you.
