I take it there is no jailbreak out for ios5 yet

I heard a few times that there is one on the way soon.

Usually there is someone on twitter to follow to find out about it.

So who is there to follow?

THIS IS A TETHERED JAILBREAK ONLY!

Does this mean there won't be a untethered one out any time soon?

ETA is impossible to predict. I am sticking to 4.3.3 jailbroken for the time being.

Whats the difference between a tethered and untethered Jailbreak? I'm totally new to all this!

Tethered means you need to plug your iPhone into a PC / Mac to boot it (with redsn0w) with jailbreak. So everytime you phone goes dead or reboots, you need a spare PC / Mac with redsn0w nearby.

Untethered means the jailbreak is loaded at boot so doesn't need any reconnection to PC / Mac etc.

Sounds annoying, if you did not have a pc nearby would the phone be able to boot back into its old un-jailbroken status so you could make calls etc? or would it just fail to to start until you booted it up with redsn0w? I'm thinking Dual-boot with Jailbroken iOS and normal iOS like how some people run linux and windows on their pcs.

It'd fail to boot (it'd be stuck on Apple logo)..

.. well, it certainly did for me when I did the tethered JB last week.

Ok, looks like I'll play the waiting game until/if an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4 on iOS 5 comes out.

Same here. I just installed the iPhoneDelivery beta and the phone locked up on the Apple logo when booting untethered. I then downgraded back to 4.3.3 as I had my SHSH blobs saved. I'll wait for an untethered jailbreak.
