TV or STB doing the blinking?

Ocassionally, my TV "blinks" for second (no picture & sound). It happens randomly - once/twice a night and if you're actually watching something.

Would the fault be with the TV or STB?
    - The TV is a Samsung Plasma (early 2011 model).
    - The STB is a Edision Mini 2in1.

I did switch to another TV (LG LCD) and haven't really seen the fault appear on that one.

I've had the TV in for a repair, but doesn't appear to have fixed the issue completely (doesn't blink as much it did before the repair). - It is scheduled to go back for another check/repair.

Can I rule out the STB in not having a fault? (don't have another issue-free STB to play with).

My guess is your signal is weak, I had a triax combo box that did the same thing. I would check your signals levels

Wouldn't the STB show picture pixelation if the signal gets bad? or freeze the picture?

I have the same problem on my Samsung 40C750 with my SkyHD box. There is alot of comments over on Avforums about this problem. Mine blinks for a second about once a week so its not too bad but will keep an eye on it if it becomes more frequent. Its definitely something to do with the TV.

Thanks for the reply. Glad I'm not the only one with a blinking TV. Will read the AVForums thread about this issue.

It sounds like a HDMI Handshake issue to me. I used to suffer this with my old toshiba and Sky + hd. check to see if there are firmware upgrades for your tv that might get rid of this problem. Suggest googling "HDMI handshake and your tv model" Also upgrade edisons firmware if not already done.

Maybe you should connect edison with scart just to see if blink occurs. If not then its def a HDMI issue.
