    It's ridiculous I know :o

But when it strikes in the middle of the night it's paralysing. Particularly when you've wikied the plot of a horror earlier that evening or flicked on to the sixth sense by accident.

Anyone else afraid of the dark? (or ghosts )

oh and no i am not afraid of the absence of light because i know the only thing that is out there to get you is other people as large dangerous animals have a hard time getting in locked up houses

But the ghosts. The ghosts get in the keyholes.

The sixth sense preys on my mind. It's just so eerie and creepy... I generally avoid horrors as a rule.

I'm not afraid of the dark,

I'm just afraid of what creeps around in it.

I think it's pretty much an instinctive reaction and no matter how rational and enlightened we are, most of us can't help getting the heebie jeebies when we're alone at night in the dark.

It happens to me occasionally and I literally leak testosterone from my pores.

    The Dark.
    Eyes don't work.
    Can't see.
    All the old ghost stories.
    Halloween.
    Afraid of the dark?
    Maybe. . .

I'm not afriad of it when I leave the lights on

    I'm afraid of the dark,
'specially when I'm in a park
    And there's no-one else around,

    Ooh, I get the shivers
    I don't want to see a ghost,
    It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
    And watch the evening news

    (Such supid lyrics innit)

My 7 year old is, but then I read Spike Milligan to him.

"Things that go bump in the night,
    often give one a fright.
But its the hole in the ear,
    that lets in the fear,
That, and the abscence of light."

There now, you can go to sleep.

I'm a night creature. Love the dark and am most alert/awake at night.

I'm still scared of the dark but there is something kinda fun in being scared.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,279 ✭✭✭Lady Chuckles

I have to admit I get slightly more paranoid in the dark :o:)

I actually get some comfort from the dark TBH. Though maybe its because I've always had very good night vision? Now I'm a specky four eyed weakling gimp in daylight, but for some reason I could always see much better than my mates in the dark/low light.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I actually can't stand the stuff. Even the whiff of garlic bread makes me wanna do a lumpy yawn.:D

Depends, up to 1am I'm ok but between then at 5am I find the scariest times.

Probably an evolutionary thing. Being at least apprehensive about the dark aids survival. The dark stops you seeing predators.
