    Hi all,

    Your help please.

Can anyone advise a ballpark figure of how much an external insulation of the top half of a gable end would cost please. The bottom half and both surround will be insulated externally (there's a one floor extension surrounding three sides of the house)

    Thanks in advance

Any help please guys. Just a ballpark. Top half of a gable end house?
Garage is underneath and will be insulated internally.

This should be moved from Plumbing..

What is the access like from the garage roof for the gable, is it a flat concrete roof or a sloped tiled roof.

If the former you have a cold bridging issue that needs to be considered.

If the latter, scaffold access could add around 1000 euros to the project, depending on who you get

    Hey,

thanks for your reply. I thought this would be a heating question.

Its a flat concrete roof? the garage will be insulated on three sides, both walls and ceilings. What will the cold bridging issue be?

How much would you reckon it would cost?

A question: when applying external insulation, is it necessary to get the gas service guys out to extend the gas meter? If the insulation is cut around the gas box to allow access, is that permittable. Will it effect the insulation quality for the house??

Another question - what is the best solution? the surrounding houses have a pebble dash effect as the render finish. What type of dash finish is advisable when using external insulation??

Is the grant still available for the external insulation? What is the best method when insulating a house. If we use a 'lean-to' roof what type of insulation could be used between the 'lean-to' and the small flat roof extension.
