Hey guys, I was in a club last night and had my iphone stolen, tryed ringing this it this morning but phone has been turned off. Checked my account online and numerous phone calls have been made since it was taken. Have all the details like time of call, number rang, time spent etc.. Do I go to the Garda with this information and hope they can sort it out or do I ring the numbers myself and track down the thief myself! Any advice would be appreciated.

If you've gotten Find My iPhone installed (I assume you do, why else would you mention it? - It's supposed to be free, so why wouldn't you..) you might be able to find out where it is, online.

    Cry :(

But really, get in contact with your phone company and see what they can do about closing your account. Then get in contact with the guards- don't bother trying to trace it yourself, you'll just get frustrated.

Given that the strength of Ireland's police force has seemingly been reduced to 1 it obviously would be putting too much pressure on the poor overworked sod to be bothering them with such a trivial matter.

So yes OP my advice would be to track down the thief yourself and

    Blast them with piss

It means you now have PDD: Pretension Deficit Disorder.

Get to an Apple retailer quick before it becomes terminal.

When you contact the gards make sure to tell them it was an i-phone and they will put as many people as possible on the case.

    Check the toilets :D

3 Iphones have been handed in behind the bar in last 2 weeks, all found in toilets and 3 different grateful owners. They are lucky there is still honest people out there.

It depends: what type of phone was it?

I don't think you mentioned it.

what would you have done if boards wasn't here?

I'd call the numbers that have been called from your phone pretending to be Bank of Ireland or O2/Vodafone and try to get a name.

Then tell them you know they have been called by the person who stole your phone and that you'll be giving their names to the gardai unless they tell you who it was that was calling them.

Might not work but the gardai just don't investigate petty crime and it's an expensive item to just give up on.

And what exactly would the Gardai do with the numbers yer man called? They're hardly going to rat out their friends.. Your fault for bringing out such an expensive item imo.

It's an iPhone, not an iHousePhone - they're hardly going to leave a mobile phone at home. Maybe if it was a work mobile, but not a personal one (but I guess that wasn't specified).

Well the OP doesn't know who stole it, so it must have been an unseen crime, in which case the iPhone must have been unprotected in a pocket/bag.

I'm not saying it was deserved; the thieves are the ones to blame, but clearly there was a level of carelessness here.

Do phone the numbers that have been called from your phone. Explain to the person that answers that your phone has been stolen, do that with every number. Name and shame the thief to their family and friends, I think there is a good chance your phone will be returned if you do this. If his/her Mam's number is there somewhere, jackpot, she will definitly make him/her give it back! :pac:

My brother-in-law had his iPhone stolen in Barcelona last week. For any of you intending to travel there, this is a must-visit site:

    OP
Check the Apple forum here. They'll advice you.

Provide info like what phone was it, 3 or 4.
Did you have Find my iPhone activated, etc...
