Just bought a 07 1.6vvti avensis and need a bit of advice on a couple of issued.
The dashboard air vents are all blowing only 2 of the 4 are. When aircon is on, none are blowing!
There seems to bd no steering wheel lock!
Anyone come accrues this before and are they easy to fix? Do I really need the steering lock?

Change the pollen filter or just remove it for now
OPen the glovebox, squeeze the 2 sides together and let it drop down, pull the box off its hinge clips, have a good look at how the damper on the left side is clipped together as its tricky to put back on, remove damper, glovebox now comes off.

Behind the glovebox, theres a rectangular cover with the filter behind, remove and refit the cover.

Obviously make sure the vent switches are pushed in the up position and that they're just not switched off.

Steering lock only activates when key is removed, you'd need to turn the wheel a good bit with the key out for the wheel to lock up.

Oh my God. I feel like such an idiot!!! The vents were rolled down so were off!!!! And the steering lock came on. Weird how far I had to turn it. Thanks a million.
Now that you know how much I need help don't suppose you know why even though my washer if full, there is no water going through the tube when I try to wash the windscreen. I've tries with the bonnet open and the clear tube stays empty. The car had been sitting up since April before I bought it last Wednesday.

Can you hear the motor running for the pump with the bonnet open.

could be the fuse for the washers, have a look at the manual, or lid of the fuse box and see which fuse is for the washers, theres often spare fuses in there also, see if replacing it works.

Another embarrassing question! Where's the fuse box for the washer?

I cannot answer that, as am unfamiliar with the avensis, but do have a look at your manual and it should tell you

Fuse is behind a panel under the mirror switch. Fuse 47 25 amp

If the wipers are working then the fuse isn't gone. Most likely a new pump required

thats unusal to have those on the same fuse is it?

just being curious, any car ive ever had the fuse go on for the washers has been just that.

Yeah, wipers working fine. I had that fuse box open earlier but it was dark and I didn't know which fuse it was. Will check the fuse anyway. How much will a pump set me back?
