Once I delete my emails on my iphone they automatically get deleted from the pc as well. I have tried to change this but to no avail. Whats the correct way of changing this setting, and where do I do that?

Your emails aren't really being stored on the phone (not permanently), or on your computer for that matter. When you use your email account you are accessing the server where they are stored, and when you delete them you're deleting them from the server.

Thats the way IMAP (Gmail) Works. You could have kept this on your other thread about Gmail, rather than start a new one?

    +1 Good post

OP, it looks as if you were a bit confused about what the emails account is actually doing

Go to settings -> mail -> gmail account then switch on archive messages. This will take them out of inbox and send to all mail.

Thanks all for replies - just wasn't getting the answer I was looking for in my original thread thats why I started a new one.

Didn't think it would cause any of you a problem doing so.........

I am using imap settings btw..........and I do understand that the emails disappear from the phone when they are deleted from the laptop.

    My problem still is:

Im not getting the answer Im looking for because basically - its not possible to do what I want with gmail.

Will just have to get used to it; and Im posting this reply in my other thread too to close it off:D
