    Hi,

I need to find the u - value for a ceramic tile, 150mm thick, with a thermal conductivity of .80 w/m2-k.

i did my calculation out, but got a thermal transmittance of 5.34w/m2-k.

I just dont know if its correct, seems wrong to me, but im only new to this, can anyone tell me if its right or not?

    Cheers:D

    U value is w/m2k
but thermal conductivity is just w/mk as area doesnt come into it only thickness

someone jump in to correct me here but i think the correct figure is probably 53.3
As i said im not sure but you might of went wrong converting the mm to M
    150mm thick tile is .015m.
I think you may of taken it as .15
also final unit of a U value is w/m2k
but thermal conductivity is just w/mk as area doesnt come into it only thickness

Yeah sorry my mistake with the w/m2k, but 150mm in metres is 0.150!!

haha, yeah now that i think of it, its a bit thick alright!

Its a question for college, "select a material and find u value,150mm thickness".............should have probably chosen something else, would make a bit more sense!!
