    Hi, I'm a complete LaTeX newbie, so I was wondering if anyone could help me out: I'm using TeXMaker and Adobe Reader X. When I click "view PDF" I get the message "Error : could not start the command."

    The problem I have may be that I have C:/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 9.0/Reader/AcroRd32.exe" %.pdf
    in here
    Options-->Configure Texmaker--> TeX Comands

    I'm using Windows 7.

    I would greatly appreciate any help.

    I'm using Adobe Reader X.

    I have C:/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 9.0/Reader/AcroRd32.exe" %.pdf
    in here
    Options-->Configure Texmaker--> TeX Commands

    In my system changing "Reader 9.0" to "Reader 10.0" in the file-path would do the needful.

    First of all go to your work directory and see if the pdflatex compiler is actually producing an external pdf that can be opened via adobe reader. Then, recheck the commands, and spacing. I recall in TeXstudio people having problems with the dvi viewer because the command line in preferences had an extra space inserted before the program names. Hope this helps.:)

    Also, for some reason, you often have to latex a document twice first before you can successfully pdflatex it. Don't ask!:confused:

    That worked! Thanks so much! I tried X and that didn't work but 10 works perfectly!
