quick question for anyone who, unlike me,is familiar with the ideal boilers,I recently replaced a fan on an ideal classic se 30ff as it was bunched, however when i knocked back on the boiler, customer was chuffed his heating working again but then i noticed the boiler kept stopping and starting every minute or so.Customer told me he presumed this was normal and i explained to him that it wasnt and there was another issue,to cut a long story short he was heading off on holidays that evening so i didnt have time to check stats, thermistors etc so told him i would sort it out on his return.Im thinking the high limit stat is the issue, but was wondering if anyone here that has knowledge of these models may have info?? any help greatly appreciated...

I have this exact same problem too,the plumber recently replaced an old ideal classic boiler (non fan) with a more modern Ideal boiler (fan assisted).

When I turn it on,it comes on for about 5 minutes, and the rads start to heat up,but after the 5 minutes or so,it keeps on knocking off for about 1 minute and then kicks back in for about 2 minutes.

Surely this isnt how this Ideal boiler should work?

Is there a problem with it then??

Possibly short cycling, with the second post, but have seen this on some classics as a pcb problem (and thought it was the thermistor) but depends on which classic

Thanks, can I ask what "short cycling" is or means??

And is there an easy way to solve my problem?

    Thanks.:)

Haha, happened me too! the first time, but you could be lucky
use your thermometer to check flow & return when this occurs, and check against the resistance of the thermister to confirm
