Laptop charger has broken AGAIN

My Dell charger has broken, this is my 5th one I think

Basically the plastic around the end of the plug (laptop end) has cracked and the only way to get it to work is to push it into the laptop and hold it, so I guess the wire inside has come away from the actual plug a bit or something. Is there any way to patch it up?

    not really

depends on the charger, but a lot of the Dell's were ultrasonically welded together, ie. you probably won't be able to get the cover back on.

However if it's at the laptop end there is a good chance it's the socket on the laptop

moving to laptops - please post your model in case it's a known problem

No it's not the laptop, it's definitely the charger itself. The rubber bit around the end of the wire/plug broke.

Anyway I tried opening it up and it's screwed now. I nearly killed myself too :)

This is a common issue with all Dell chargers

    Very much so I'm afraid

There are 3 Dell laptops among my family members ,they all had issues with the the broken solder connection however once the AC adapters were purchased(cheap Chiness models without power cords obviously) ,the problem was solved once and for all.

PC World sell Logik chargers for around 60euro, have 10 or so different connections. Think a late thread to reply to but how and ever.
