I've been looking at the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Ace, but I really don't know what would be best for around this price. What would you guys recommend?

I must also state I have no interest in Billpay and would prefer if the phone was not locked to one network.

Xperia Play can be got cheaply now if that is of any interest to you.

I would definitely be interested in it, watching some reviews of it now and it seems very good, it's the phone I'm looking to buy unless I see something better for around €250.

Ace isnt a bad option but if you could go another 50 Sony Ericsson Rays a great little phone also. Htc wildfire s is good and similar spec to the Ace, below your budget too. loads of choice at your price range

Well, I have a Galaxy Ace. It is a capable phone, I've yet to find something it can't do, but internal space is a limiting factor, and it can be a bit slow at times. And there is an issue with WiFi SOD. Apparently, updating to 2.3.4 is meant to fix that. I haven't updated yet though. It fails anytime I try.

So from the looks of things I'm going to be getting the Xperia Play, just one question though, does it use a normal SIM Card or does it need a micro-SIM or something along those lines?

Are there any phones more powerful for around this price range? I'm willing to pay up to €300 and I've been looking at a few more phones, namely the Desire Z. I'm not too sure how much use I'd get out of the Xperia Play's controller like design anyway, so is the Desire Z any good? It has a hardware keyboard which seems much more useful than a controller to me.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005HBKGXS/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d0_g23_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0GVFYR6W9X4H7EXZCBQR&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294

This also looks to be coming soon, and it'll probably be a sensible price when it actually is released, 1.4GHz chip in fairness. It is very hard to look past the Xperia Play in terms of value for money, though

So much choice! It'll probably be between that, the Desire Z and the Xperia Play.

Just thinking that I might spend a little (ok not really a little, quite a lot) more and get the HTC Desire S (or HD, need help deciding), it looks very very nice from reviews and the Desire Z seems to have disappeared from expansys.ie anyway.
So, both phones can be had for similar prices, which would be better? I'm thinking the HD as it has a better screen, better camera etc. but the close prices are making me unsure, any help?

Also, what sites are reliable? I am comfortable with Amazon.co.uk but I'm unsure if they ship phones here.

    Misread the HD's price.
