I think I might have Asperger's Syndrome?

    Hey there.

After reading quite a bit about Asperger's and taken a few of the online tests (like the Autism Spectrum Quotient), I've decided that it is something I want to look into more. I'm 17 years old, and I find that I have a lot of the symptoms that are mentioned online. Also, would it be possible that my father also has AS? As he has a lot of the symptoms too.

I've looked at some websites, and they say that it can take anywhere between 8-12 months to be seen by a professional. In the public sector, that is.

I don't really have enough money to see a professional in the private sector.

Would anyone have an idea on the steps that I should take?
Should I talk to my school guidance counselor? My GP?
I have a medical card, if that makes any difference.

    Thanks. :)

We can't give individual advice here, so the best thing to do is to see your GP and discuss your concerns with him/her. Talk with your school counsellor if you feel it might be of benefit.

Waiting lists vary around the country.
